Let Tales of Gold Mine take you back to 1949 when plenty of our ancestors were heading to California to look for a better life. Its fantastical setting features mining kits, a big pair of boots hanging on the wall and rusty large engine wheels. Expect New American-style dishes from the menu – actually, more of a Chinese-American hybrid – such as sweet and sour fried chicken salad, and the house mantau (duck breast served with condiments such as parsnip, grated carrots, pickles and coriander leaves). Drinks focus on East-meets-West presentations – try the Bone China or Shanghai Opium – while after-meal fare includes a must-try chrysanthemum panna cotta.
