The venue is reminiscent of the eateries you would typically stumble across on a beach vacay. As soon as you step in, your nostrils are hit by the salty smell of the ocean, and your sight is struck by seaside-inspired details like fish nets and (faux) coconut trees. The seats and tables are—you guessed it—rattan juxtaposed with dyed wood.
But you really come here for the food, in particular fresh and flavorful seafood. If you want to go all the way in, order the Seamet grill platter (B1,999), which comes with every sea bounty you can think—char-grilled river prawns, shrimp, cuttlefish, New Zealand mussels, and scallops—all served on three-tiered plate. For lighter fare, we recommend the prawns with vermicelli (B279)—it’s simple, straightforward, but loaded with flavor. But if you want to play it safe, order all-time fave Thai dishes like fried snapper with fish sauce (B389) or fried prawns with dried chili, garlic and salt (B269).
The drinks menu carries all types of classic concoctions. If you’re feeling posh, get yourself a glass of Martini Orange Peel (B279), a clear sipper that’s just the right amount of bitter and zesty. For a more spirits-forward drink, opt for a classic Negroni (B279). All the food and booze here come free of VAT and service charge, so you’re sure to go home with a full tummy—to the point that you may have to loosen your belt a few notches—and a lighter wallet.
Live music plays on a daily basis, but DJs come on the weekend to double up the fun with chill beats. Seamet is planning on having an extravaganza show, like a cabaret, soon so stay tuned.
