Welcoming, homey vibes fill every inch of Maysa, a new café set in a 40-year-old house on
Soi Sena Niwet. Comfortable chairs and tables have been set up all over the house, from the roomy living room to the pretty patio to the breezy garden. You won’t get this much space in most coffee shops or eateries in central Bangkok.
The drinks line-up is as impressive as the interiors, and boasts creative tweaks and up-to-date techniques. Signature latte Maysa (B120) successfully appeals to softcore drinkers by mixing an Ethiopian blend with homemade pandan-infused roasted rice syrup.
Another item on the list is Dirty (B120), which tops ice-cold fresh milk with a shot of medium-blend coffee—comes with grilled marshmallows on the side.
For non-coffee drinkers, you have With Love with Maysa (B100) a refreshing mix of sparkling yuzu, white peach and rose syrups. Hot Chocolate Rose (B80), in the meantime, is an unconventional take on hot chocolate, the floral scent contrasting nicely with the robust bitterness of chocolate.
Maysa also serves pastry and baked goods, including croissants (B75 each), chocolate tart (B165) and tiramisu (B150).
The cafe is still on its soft opening yet it has already been hyped up by Bangkok’s most ardent cafe-hoppers. Once it goes full force, Maysa will take on a “from dusk till dawn” principle, which means the addition of a bar, a co-working area and a fashion boutique called Mayrati.
