Tucked deep inside Sukhumvit Soi 23 (an area infamously lined with massage parlors and tourist-focused eateries) is Layers, a hidden gem where pide or Turkish-style pizza takes center stage alongside other flavorful Mediterranean-inspired bites that benefit your health.
Eye-catching pine green cushions, light wood tables, and splashes of turquoise give a refreshing oasis feel to Layers. A wood-fire oven welcomes guests upon arrival, giving a hint of what to expect. You definitely come here for their pide, the Turkish version of pizza. Layer’s take on the Mediterranean specialty is an impressive endeavor, with a crispy, feather-light crust laden with different toppings, including flavorful tomato sauce and scrumptious beef meatballs (B260), and delicious grilled chicken with pesto (B240). A Thai variant, inspired by tom yam kung, is also available (B240).
Apart from pide, Layers also specializes in health-conscious fare with Mediterranean influences, such as a succulent beetroot salad, which benefits from the the spicy and sour flavors of lime, chili and shallots (B180), and tasty cold mezze like red hummus (B85) and baba ganoush (B160). A heartier option would be the delicious pasta with heavenly chermoula sauce (spicy North African marinade) and succulent shrimps (B250).
The prices are just right, the flavors are impressive, and the food is low on calories—Layers is definitely a great addition to an area that has long been in need of serious Mediterranean eats.
