Following the success of its Italian trattoria in Ari, Soho Hospitality has opened the second branch of Cantina Pizzeria & Italian Kitchen along tourist haunt, Soi Sukhumvit 11.
As expected of any establishment along this stretch, the place is heaving with as much foreigners and expats as locals. Brick and wood dominate the interiors, but natural light filtering in from a gigantic glass window keeps the place from looking stuffy. An open kitchen gives a peek into the bustle in the kitchen, while a floor-to-ceiling wine cellar on the second floor affords a glimpse into the bounty of Italian vineyards.
Neapolitan-style pizza is what’s promised at Cantina. Here, the dough undergoes a 48-hour natural fermentation process, resulting in a base with a flavor similar to sourdough. Try the classic Diavola (B380) topped with tomato sauce, mozzarella, spicy Italian salami, black olives and fresh basil, or go for the Parma Ham & Burrata (B520) if you prefer your pie with a smoky flavor.
Other favorites include a stringy burrata (B450), and the Fettuccine Cantina (B390), a classic made with velvety pasta that’s house-made fresh every day. For dessert, the Homemade Tiramisu (B200) is a must.
This second branch has an impressive Italian wine list (more selections than its Ari counterpart) and a cocktail list by Italian mixologist Davide Sambo. Cantina has also dedicated one whole section of its drinks menu to iconic cocktail, Negroni, offering a wide range of variations from classic to floral.
