Chicken may be the most basic and humble protein but it’s one of the most difficult meats for any cook to master—undercooked, it can make you sick; left in the oven too long, it’ll turn out miserably dry. Birds Rotisserie, however, has managed to perfect the chicken-cooking process and churns out what’s probably the best roasted chicken in town.
Exposed concrete combined with shiny, larger-than-life, chicken-shaped neon lighting make up the eatery’s facade, bringing a touch of campy industrial chic to the low-key Nanglinchi neighborhood. Chef Jeremy Tourret (who previously helmed L’Appart at Sofitel) works his roasting magic at the open kitchen.
The poultry is sourced from a farm in Khao Yai that’s run by a French farmer, and is marinated for three days with secret spices. What you get is juicy, home cooked-style chicken that rivals what you have in the city’s haute cuisine establishments. The meat is heavenly tender—even the breast part, which is hard to perfect—and the skin, crispy and flavorful. Choose between a half chicken (750g/B430) or a whole bird (1.5kg/B790). You can also go for the set, which comes with delicious young potato drizzled with a sauce of your choice (we particularly love the chicken jus and Sriracha mayonnaise).
Round up your meal with the Super Grilled Salad, loaded with avocado, Job’s tears, bell pepper and pumpkin (B250), and the decadent chocolate moelleux—probably one of the best we’ve had in Bangkok.
