Chiang Mai’s beloved burger virtuoso, Beast Burger, set up its first food truck in 2014. The venture quickly gained a huge following from burger enthusiasts around the city. Now, armed with confidence, the folks behind this burger joint aspires to build up its name and reputation in Bangkok’s competitive food scene.
Burrowed in Soi Thonglor 10, the eatery has taken on a new name: Beast & Butter. Its facade displays a bright yellow sign of a burger sporting devil horns, but inside, the atmosphere is friendly and relaxing—perfect as a hangout spot for small groups or even a cocooning hole for the solo diner.
Beast & Butter, like its Chiang Mai precedent, ups the burger game by taking everything out of the basic zone, starting with the star of the menu: burgers, obviously. The team has come up with a bun that has the smooth texture and softness of brioche, but with a mouthwatering buttery whiff.
Slapped between the buns is a big and juicy patty that comes in three options: beef, pork or vegetarian. The best seller is Bacon Mushroom (B250), where the succulent meat patty is topped with Swiss cheese, caramelized onions, sauteed mushrooms and bacon. Non-meat eaters aren’t given the raw end of the deal. The Veggie Beast (B230) promises to appease their burger cravings with a meatless patty dressed with cheddar cheese, caramelized onions, crispy seaweed and homemade sauce.
The kitchen churns out more premium offerings to cater to Thonglor’s upscale market. There’s Sous vide Pork Chop (B400) and Bacon Jalapeño Mac & Cheese (B200), both of which go really well with draught beer. Or you can also pair your meaty eats with Really Dark Chocolate (B180), a drink that will make chocolate lovers fall hard.
