K-District at Show DC is not only packed with fashion, beauty and lifestyle items from South Korea. The newly opened block in the massive mall also flaunts a food zone, named K-Celebrity Street Food, that encompasses restaurants and cafes inspired by famous Korean artists.
One of the biggest venues is After the Rain, an Italian brunch restaurant inspired by Korean superstar Rain’s personal love for Sunday brunch. Set in a cozy space decorated with red brick, warm-colored wood and motifs borrowed from Eighties movies, After the Rain serves up a menu that includes dishes inspired by Rain’s favorite restaurant in Seoul, All Day Fresh Kitchen, combined with Chef Dani Shim’s creations.
Brunch staples such as English Breakfast (B240), French toast (B230) and corn fritters (B230) are served alongside hearty Italian dishes with a touch of Asian flavor, including a seabass and mushroom risotto (B360) with truffle oil. Other go-to offers include Blue Crab Rose (B300), a pasta dish with tomato cream sauce and tons of crab meat, and homemade freshly baked flat bread (B280) served with your choice of toppings (sundried tomatoes and homemade cheese, for example).
The sweet-toothed should also try their homemade Koreanstyle baked treats. Opt foSoboru Bread (B50), a sweet bread topped with peanut butter cookie crumbs (also available with red bean stuffing for B60). Pair your meal with one of their detox juices (B160), such as Greeny Day (apple, green grape, kale, spinach, celery, ginger and lemon) and Purple Rain (grape, beetroot and red cabbage).
