It has been five years since About Eatery sprang up in the heart of Bangkok and impressed discerning diners with an array of excellent food and the city’s best selection of natural wines. During this half-decade, head chef Lorenzo Rosso never stopped creating new dishes that stay true to Italian sensibilities and we never stopped trying what he would bring to the table.
In celebration of its anniversary, Chef Lorenzo and About have revealed new dishes for cibo italiano lovers to enjoy. First up are two new fresh pasta offerings: Tagliolini Nero with Braised Squid (B590), which comes with a black, silky-smooth sauce and given a swanky twist with sparkly gold dust; and Bigoli Amatriciana (B590), a flavor-intense reimagination of the classic spicy dish, but with braised beef cheeks instead of pork.
About also has more starters for sharing, including fresh and meaty crab cakes (B590), and calamari and moeche fritte (B650) served with soft polenta. The radicchio salad (B350) is one to keep an eye on if you want something light and healthy, while the beef carpaccio (B690) and scallops with warm fava beans (B790) is perfect if you want heavier proteins with your veggies.
Two main dishes have also been introduced. If you’re a seafood enthusiast, then you would definitely enjoy the grilled octopus cooked Luciana-style (B790). Meanwhile, the roasted lamb chop (B870), which comes with grilled ratatouille, is a must for meat lovers.
Classic Italian desserts are a specialty at About too. The tiramisu (B240) is light and fluffy while the chocolate cake (B250) is a richly flavored number that sweeps the palate with silky sweetness. The panna cotta (B240) is a great option if you want to finish off your meal with a refreshing smack.
