Get bored of traditional khao chae? Just a Drink Maybe cocktail bar puts a heady spin on scorching Thai hot season with a cocktail in a semblance of the traditional summer treat.
Usually comprised of rice soaked in jasmine-infused water and savory condiments, a khao chae becomes deconstructed and transformed into a gin and tonic at the Thonglor gin bar. Spanish-distilled gin Nordes with dominant floral note is mixed with elderflower tonic for soothing sweetness. Served alongside the cocktail are the actual khao chae sidekicks like shrimp paste balls, spicy stuffed shallots and cubed sweet porks.
The khao chae cocktail will be available throughout April at B600 with five sets on Sunday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday and 10 sets on Friday and Saturday. So call ahead to secure your khao chae in advance.
