Bang Sue Grand Station, Bangkok's newest railway hub, will soon open for the extension of the SRT Red Line suburban railway system on 2 August. The station is set to be the center station for the entire route, which consists of 13 stops throughout two sub-lines: the Dark Red section and the Light Red section.

During the first phase, scheduled to take off on the aforementioned date, the Red Line will run along the north-south axis of the capital, with the Dark Red going up north from Bang Sue to Thammasat University (Rangsit Campus) in Pathum Thani, while the Light Red operating to the south from Bang Sue to Taling Chan.

The journey from the central station to the final stop will only take 25 minutes on the Dark Red line and 15 on the Light Red.

Trial runs will take place for three months, during which passengers can ride for free. After that, the train system will begin collecting a fee starting from B12 to the maximum of B42, the cheapest price arrangement of all commuting systems in Bangkok.

Two types of vehicles were engineered for the Red Line: a six-carriage train with a capacity of 1,710 passengers per trip and a four-carriage train with a capacity of 1,120 passengers per trip. The system can run at the maximum speed of 160 kilometers per hour.
