UPDATE (on April 22): The Thai government has announced today that the Test & Go scheme will be dropped from the requirements for international tourists from May 1. This means, all travelers planned to enter Thailand for tourism are no longer required to take an RT-PCR test on the first day of arrival and practice a one-night isolation within a government-approved accommodation.
Moreover, the coverage cost of the insurance policy needed for the Thailand Pass application will also be reduced from USD20,000 to USD10,000.
Please note that the regulation adjustments are eligible for the tourists who have completed COVID-19 vaccines and are aged 18 and above.

Thailand has updated regulations for Test & Go, the quarantine-exempt program that allows fully vaccinated international tourists to enter the kingdom.
From now, travelers will now only need to take one RT-PCR test on the first day at an approved SHA Extra Plus (SHA++) hotel or an alternative quarantine facility where they need to wait inside the room until the test result arrives.
The catch is, tourists will still need to take a second test, but it can be an ATK test that they can do themselves. The result has to be reported to or recorded in the MorChana application.
Other documents needed for the Test & Go application are:
- Proof of pre-payment for one night of accommodation at a SHA Extra Plus (SHA++) hotel on Day 1
- An insurance policy with coverage no less than USD20,000
- A Certificate of COVID-19 vaccination/recovery
The Test & Go program is eligible for tourists aspiring to enter Thailand through any province, excluding the following areas:
- Chon Buri (Bang Lamung, Pattaya, Si Racha, Si Chang, and Sattahip – only Na Jomtien and Bang Saray)
- Krabi
- Phang-Nga
- Phuket
- Surat Thani (Koh Samui, Koh Pha-ngan, and Koh Tao)
- Trat (Koh Chang)
If you wish to travel to any of the above destinations, you have to apply for entry via the Sandbox program, which requires you to stay within that one destination for at least seven days before extending your trip to other parts of the country. Read about the Sandbox program.
Unvaccinated individuals who want to visit Thailand are required to quarantine for at least ten days via the Alternative Quarantine (AQ) program.
All these new updates will be in effect for applications made from March 1 and tourists arriving in Thailand from March 7.
