The World's 50 Best Restaurants award has finally returned for 2021's edition and revealed that Sühring is the only eatery in Bangkok that made the cut.

The announcement of the respected awards was made last night (October 5) via live streaming from Antwerp due to the ongoing pandemic. The ceremony was much anticipated among the fine-dining connoisseurs and leading restaurants around the world to see who's in and out of the list after they all left wondering last year when the declaration had been canceled.

2021's edition once again crowned only one restaurant in Bangkok, and that recognized one is Sühring, the award-winning eatery by German twin brothers Thomas and Mathias Sühring that has made it to the list at no. 40, climbing up from no. 45 in 2019. The three-Michelin-starred Noma in Copenhagen has been crowned no. 1 and is then considered the world's best restaurant for 2021. Singapore's Odette (no. 8) and Hong Kong's The Chairman (no. 10) are the only two restaurants from Asia that made it to the top 10.

Prior to the reveal of rank 1-50, the 50 Best committees had unveiled the second half of the list back in September, which saw three restaurants in Bangkok take the honorable mentions, namely, Gaa climbing two spots to no.93, Le Du debuting at no.72, and Sorn debuting at no.63.

In addition to the top 100 list, neo-Indian restaurant Haoma was also one of the three winners of the Champion of Change thanks to his NOONEHUNGRY initiative.
