The results are in: The committee of 50 Best has unveiled the 2022 edition of Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants that recognizes top-tier eateries across the continent.
Ahead of the complete list announced today (March 29), the UK-based media revealed the second half of the list that saw 50 restaurants making it to rankings 51-100. Phuket’s Pru and Bangkok’s Lerdtip (Wang Hin) are the two new entries on the honorable list, while Quince and Baan Tepa in the capital are able to retain their spots there.
The real excitement for us, however, is to see who gets to be in the top 50 this year, and it turns out that Thailand still has a handful of restaurants receiving the accolades from 50 Best in 2022. There are a total of nine venues in the country that are placed in the first half of the roster, with Sorn, Le Du, Sühring, and Nusara leading up the bunch at the top spots.
Southern Thai eatery Sorn has managed to take the position of Thailand’s best restaurant from Chef Thitid “Ton” Tassanakajohn’s Le Du, with the crown of No. 2 on the list. However, Le Du can still hold tight to No. 4 again this year, while his other venue Nusara climbs tem spots to No. 10.
A gasp of surprise in 2022’s version is the slipping in rank of Sühring that moves down one spot to No. 7. Meanwhile, Gaa by Chef Garima Arora moves up from No. 46 to No. 33.
Big rounds of applause go to the breakthrough to the top 50 list of Jay Fai on No. 46 (from No. 62) and Samrub Samrub Thai on No. 31 (from No. 59), whereas Sushi Masato and Blue by Alain Ducasse are the two restaurants making the very first appearance on No. 29 and No. 25, respectively.
Huge congratulations also go to Den in Tokyo, Japan for taking up No. 1 on the 10th edition of Asia’s 50 Best.
