Deputy spokeswoman Rachada Thanadirek revealed on her Twitter account today (16 March) that Covid-19 Administration Centre agreed to put off Songkran holidays from 13-15 April to other dates in order to slow down the novel coronavirus outbreak in the country. The plan will be proposed to the cabinet meeting tomorrow.

The decision to postpone the country’s most significant national holiday is to eliminate large-scale migration of the population inside and outside of the country, while promoting isolation and social distancing to slow down the virus’ spread.
