Usually taking place at Buddhist temples, you can now be part of the ongoing rituals at various non-temple venues around Thailand. At ICONSIAM's Rassada Hall on the first floor, you're welcome to oiffer scented water to the replicas of four Buddha image styles from various Thai kingdoms—Shinnasri Buddha from Sukhothai era, Nimit Vichitmarn Molee Sri Sanpetch Borom Tri Lok Nart Buddha from Ayuthaya era, Buddham Viseth Sasada Buddha from Thonburi era and Siam Dheva Thirat Buddha from the current Rattanakosin period.
Delve into the rich history of Songkran
New to Songkran? No worries. ICONSIAM has installed an exhibition that portrays the history and related traditions of the festival at Charoennakhon Hall on M floor, complete with stunning cultural performances such as Viva Songkran Dance, Silk Reeling Dance, and Klong Sa Bad Chai percussion dance.
Hands-on traditional Thai craftworks
Level up your Songkran celebration by taking part in some of the traditional Thai heritage workshops provided at Charoennakhon Hall on M floor. Your choices include creating scented fan, making scented water, painting fabrics with Thai patterns, and carving fruits and vegetables. You can also put on traditional Thai costumes for great photo ops. What's best? It's all free of charge!
Get starstruck with Thai superstars
Many of might have been watching Thai soaps and admiring many of them, the ICONIC Songkran Festival at ICONSIAM is a great chance to see them live! The riverside complex invites some of Thailand's biggest stars: Ann Thongprasom, Natapohn ‘Taew’ Taemeeruk, Woranuch ‘Nune’ Bhirombhakdi, and Chalida ‘Mint’ Vijitvongthong to present in the ICONSIAM Songkran Niramit Procession that portrays Siamese court styles in different eras. The parade takes place on April 12-15 between 16:30 and 18:00. Vocalists Nont Tanont and Da Endorphine will also bring the beat into the event.
Travel back in time to Songkran celebration in the good old days
On the ground floor of ICONSIAM, SOOKSIAM is a heaven for all things traditional Thai, from yummy fresh-from-the-street bites to locally-made items from different regions around the kingdom. To celebrate the Songkran festival, the air-conditioned Thai-style bazaar puts together not only one but seven activities that celebrate the truest traditions of Thailand:
