The corner of Soi Ngam Duplee-Sathorn 1 has welcomed two of Atchara “Pla Iberry” Burarak’s new restaurants.
The restaurateur and her partners first opened Fran’s in collaboration with celebrated chef Charlie Kader. The bistro-style joint offers brunch plates (we’re talking bread, coffee, pasta and pancakes) in a casual European-inspired setting. Fran’s first opened in August, and the wait list is now longer than Sukhumvit traffic.
Now is Ăn Cơm Ăn Cá, a Vietnamese restaurant that’s slated to open today (Sep 9).
Set in a revamped vintage mansion (right next to Fran’s), Ăn Cơm Ăn Cá (which means “to eat rice and fish” in Vietnamese) is Pla’s first attempt at Vietnamese cuisine. As she relates in an Instagram post, she had to travel back and forth to Vietnam to learn all about the country’s cuisine from Vietnamese chefs. The result is a menu boasting Vietnamese-influenced dishes that heavily use seafood. Ăn Cơm Ăn Cá is currently open for dinner only.
Not too far away, on Sathorn 10, ex-Le Normandie chef Arnaud Dunant has found a permanent location for his namesake restaurant.
Told ya, Sathorn is hot right now
