There’s a new eating and drinking spot by the river in Charoenkrung. And, though it’s part of a hotel, the outlets are independently operated and very much affordable.
Salil Journey Riverside is the community center annexed to Salil Hotel Riverside, the fifth and latest establishment by the Salil Hospitality Group and its first along the Chao Phraya River. Set on Soi Charoenkrung 72/1, the five-star hotel features old European architecture injected with contemporary tweaks, and rooms with river views. But what really excites us are the shops and dining establishments on its riverfront complex.
At Salil Journey, you have Jumbo Lobster, a Thai-Chinese restaurant that focuses on shellfish; another branch of popular dessert bar Brix; a craft beer bar by Taproom x Josh Hotel; and Mars, the first on-ground store of a wine importer where you can sip reds and whites at affordable prices (from B15XX a bottle). Scent and fragrance brand Karmakamet has also opened its first riverside store here.
The Salil Hotel Riverside also operates two restaurants on its own: Nava, the main restaurant which serves comfort Thai food along with Thai rum and gin; and Shaloba, a slow-bar cafe that specializes in Turkish “sand coffee” (where coffee is brewed in heated sand).
Visit now while the breezy weather is perfect for al fresco dining.
