Feel like relaxing in the warmth of the Mediterranean? Make your way to the new La Tavola. The long-standing Italian restaurant at Renaissance Bangkok Ratchaprasong Hotel has come out of a recent refresh and is now welcoming families, friends, lovebirds, and enthusiastic gourmands to savor all-new dishes and an atmosphere inspired by the coastal region of Italy.
Brought into the new La Tavola are the vibrant elements that decorate the homes along the Mediterranean Sea. The whole place features colorful Italian art, warm wooden decor, and elegant marble sculptures. At the centerpiece is a curved European-style arch that offers the perfect background for social media shots.
La Tavola’s updated menu is also your fast ticket to the Mediterranean. Front to back, the food line-up is packed with dishes that showcase homemade recipes and fresh ingredients to represent La Tavola’s two pillars: passion and simplicity.
Helping La Tavola achieve its new commitment to creating an “exceptional and memorable culinary journey” is Chef Waranyu “Nott” Pansakul. With over two decades of experience and impressive awards under his belt, such as the Time Out Doha Award in 2015 and the Doha Fact Award 2015, he’s now back in his home country and appointed as the new sous chef for Italian cuisine at Renaissance Bangkok Ratchaprasong Hotel.
Pop in to say hi and order his signature dishes. Start the meal off with the Caesar salad (B540), including Romaine lettuce, anchovy, bacon lardons, and croutons. Get your camera ready as the dish is prepared on the table side. A vegetarian option is available.
Speaking of tableside preparation, we also recommend Cinque terre (B2,260). This one is a seafood giant that gives off the Ligurian style of a stew pot, which is filled with assorted ingredients from the sea like Spanish octopus, scallop, king tiger prawn, snow fish, French razor clam, black mussels, and baked semolina dough.
If you feel like sharing, keep it simple but satisfying by sharing a plate of Salmone alla Topinambur (B690). This generously portioned salmon fillet is baked to perfection and then flavored with cooked Jerusalem artichoke and anchovy cream sauce.
La Tavola is also great for special occasions. Regardless of what you’re celebrating, get these must-try dishes for the table. Spaghetti Carbonara & Nduja (B390) is a twist on everyone’s favorite pasta dish with spicy salami that adds zing to the creamy sauce made with crispy guanciale, Pecorino cheese, and egg yolk.
If there's a meat lover in the group, get Filletto (B2,100). Grilled black Angus short loin is cooked so well and served with butternut coulis, porcini jus, and bone marrow.
Don’t wrap up the meal without treating yourselves to Tiramisu (B330). La Tavola’s take on this Italian dessert has an unconventional look where the Amaretto liqueur cream is poured on top of the ladyfingers. There’s also Manjari chocolate to balance out the sweetness of the dish as well. La Tavola also wants you to try Crostata alle mele (B290), a vegan dessert for the health conscious, which consists of caramelized apple, hazelnut ice cream, and apple crisp.
