Peppina, the pizzeria beloved by both locals and visitors, has been named the best restaurant for pizza in Thailand.

Earlier this week, The Peninsula Bangkok played host to Asia’s very first Top 50 Pizza ceremony, an awards event that originated in Italy back in 2017. This is the first year that establishments across the Asia-Pacific were recognized and the reveal on August 8 gave a nod to five venues in Thailand.

Peppina, the Neapolitan pizzeria on Soi Sukhumvit 33 that commits to the “rules of the Associazione Verace Pizza Napoletana to promote and protect the rich heritage of pizza worldwide” bagged the fifth overall spot, barely beating Silom’s Pizza Massilia, which was ranked at number 6.

Three more Bangkok pizzerias made the cut: Pizzeria Mazzie at number 10, Via Emilia Restaurant at number 19 and L’Oliva Bangkok at number 31.

Australia’s 48h Pizza e Gnocchi Bar took the top spot. The first 15 restaurants on the list will be entered into the global competition this September. We can only wish them good luck.
