These small shops are called yatai and they’re a vital part of the Japanese food scene.
With the present pandemic situation, traveling to the Land of the Rising Sun to feast on these street eats is impossible. But we do have the next best thing available in the city.
Okura Prestige Bangkok is now offering new takeaways inspired by food served at yatai stands, but with some European twists. The line-up includes Yatai Bowls (ranging from B150 to B290) such as Tortellini Wagyu Beef and Homemade Fresh Fettuccine with Chicken Karaage. The highlight, however, is the Yatai Box (B650), which includes a selection of hot skewers.
Along with these affordable eats are fizzy craft soda drinks created by Okura and popular cocktail bar Wasteland. Three refreshing flavors are available: Sakura Soda, Ponzu Cola, and Umeboshi (B150/bottle).
