The hotel industry is becoming increasingly exciting. Following the launch of the first World’s 50 Best Hotels 2023 list, where the Four Seasons in Bangkok came in at No. 3, the respected red-covered Michelin Guide is entering this competitive market by introducing the Michelin Key, an award aimed at recognizing outstanding hotels that meet Michelin’s standards.

The criteria used for ratings include the local experience the hotel offers, design excellence, the service and comfort provided, the unique character of the hotel, and the value for the money paid.

Michelin currently has more than 5,000 hotels in 120 countries and territories in its pocket, but only a handful of outstanding venues will be awarded with a key. Michelin Key is expected to launch in the first quarter of 2024. The number of Keys to be given away has yet to be announced.
