For city dwellers like us who don’t really have much time or energy (or the knowledge) to cook and rely on dining out, trying to figure out what to eat on a daily basis can be a pain, especially since Bangkok has too many choices when it comes to eateries serving delectable offerings.
Thankfully, leading e-commerce platform LINE MAN Wongnai is here to recommend the best places to fill up our empty stomachs.
Initially launched in 2017 solely by Wongnai, Thailand's leading food review portal kickstarted by Yod Chinsupakul in 2010, whose passion was sparked by the very question of ‘What shall we have for dinner today?’. Since 2014, the platform has grown bigger with over 500,000 restaurants registered and many initiatives like the Users’ Choice Awards.
LINE MAN Wongnai Users’ Choice has brought recognition and support to restaurants in Thailand while also encouraging them to provide the best standard of service and quality to their customers.
Users’ Choice saw the “selection and assortment of distinguished restaurants” by Wongnai users. In 2021, the application merged with delivery service LINE MAN to create a database of the country’s best dining options, from street food stalls to swanky fine-dining spots, as well as cloud kitchens, based on reviews from over 21 million users of both applications.
LINE MAN Wongnai Users’ Choice has brought recognition and support to restaurants in Thailand while also encouraging them to provide the best standard of service and quality to their customers. The 2022 edition also saw a more ambitious undertaking, with a total of 540 restaurants awarded from approximately 500,000 registered venues across 77 provinces.
But the process of finding the winners wasn’t simple. Both LINEMAN and Wongnai came up with a just system that focuses on the reviews, ratings, and the number of orders from their users. Some of the criteria include the requirement of at least 4.0 score points for a restaurant to be eligible for the awards and the availability of various dishes priced from ten to thousands.
