For the last five years, we’ve been working extra-hard to bring about Awakening Bangkok and making sure that each event surpasses the previous outing. So indulge us when we say that we’re very, very thrilled that our lighting festival has finally won a national award!
State-run Creative Economy Agency (CEA), the powerhouse behind TCDC and Bangkok Design Week, recently launched its inaugural Creative Excellence Awards, where 28 prizes are given in 15 categories. They used Mandala AI, a social listening tool that collects and analyzes online data, and transforms them into useful insights in a matter of seconds, to come up with 374 finalists, which were then judged by an appointed committee.
And our very own Awakening Bangkok won the Creative City Festival Award for “creating a city event that connects people, celebrates locality, and generates economic opportunities.”
We are in good company. Other awardees include the Phuket Peranakan Festival, which won the Creative City Cultural Asset Award, and hip ice cream brand Guss Damn Good, which won the Cross-Sector Collaboration Award.
CEA aims to give awards to creative powerhouses that successfully utilize the creative field as a key driver in promoting the growth of the national economy.
