Asia’s 50 best restaurants for 2023 have been announced and in the top spot is Bangkok’s Le Du, the progressive Thai restaurant helmed by Chef Thitid “Ton” Tassanakajohn.
Nurasa, the talented chef’s other Bangkok restaurant, also made it to the list at number 3. The announcement definitely made Chef Ton one of the happiest men at the recently held awards ceremony at Resorts World Sentosa in Singapore.
Seven other restaurants from Thailand also made it to Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants list. Gaggan Anand’s namesake eatery is back on the list at No. 5, while Sorn fell from No. 1 last year to No. 9. Sühring is now Asia’s 22nd best restaurant (down from No. 7) and Ms. Maris & Mr. Singha, Chef Gaggan’s casual Indian dining room, debuts on the list at No. 33. Chef Pam Soontornyanakij’s Chinatown fine-dining venue, Potong, also appears for the first time at No. 35. Jay Fai comes in 38th and first-timer Baan Tepa at 46.
