Last October, Scotch whisky purveyor Johnnie Walker stirred up the global drinking scene with one-of-a-kind collaboration with HBO's groundbreaking series Game of Thrones. The White Walker blends took home a massive success globally, and JW is celebrating the triumph by returning to HBO for not just one but two other GoT-branded collectibles: A Song of Ice and A Song of Fire whiskies.
Label designs alone are strikingly notable. A Song of Ice sees a dire wolf with JW's iconic Striding Man on a snowy background. A Song of Fire is wrapped in a volcanic hue with an illustration of the dragon and the intentionally-mirrored Striding Man that looks like he's "striding" toward his fellow iced Striding Man when placing the two blends next to each other. To elevate your experience with JW, both labels are pre-equipped with AR technology, which enables the fictional animals coming to life on your smartphone. (The AR technology will start functioning from Nov 10.)
Inside, A Song of Ice features a single-malt spirit from Clynelish distillery in the northmost part of Scotland. It's bottled at 40.2%. A Song of Fire, as the label might suggest, comes more full-bodied and spiced, thanks to peated malt from Caol Ila distillery. It's bottled at 40.8% so it's ideal for those looking for a sip with bolder notes.
The "A Song of Ice" and "A Song of Fire" blends—as well as the White Walker launched earlier—are priced at B1,700 per bottle (750ml), available at selected liquor stores and convenience stores nationwide.
