2021's Labor Day on May 1 marks the return of lockdown-like regulations ordered by the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA). On April 29, the authorities quickly announced without prior warnings that Bangkok and other red-zoned provinces would have to undergo stricter restrictions including dine-in prohibition.
We can't say it's a total surprise to see the new rules come into play again with the situation of coronavirus in the country is getting more worrisome day after day. However, such short notice of the enforcement has greatly affected a massive range of people in the food and drink to put their work to a sudden halt. An unfair move, we'd say.
As food was the last resort for us to enjoy the outside world before the dine-in ban, it's now completely purposeless to go out except for getting a takeaway from our favorite places. This has rendered the entire metropolitan a ghost town state. The usual scene of bustling crowds of pedestrians and cars has gone, leaving only delivery motorcyclists and bored restaurant staffers taking over the sight.
