May 17 marks the first day in over two weeks since diners around the city could not enjoy an eat-in experience in restaurants and cafés around the city. Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) finally relaxed the dine-in service obligation, announced on May 15, which details that all restaurants can now reopen to welcome back dine-in customers, but at only 25% of their capacity.

While it's good news for the food scene in Bangkok to make a comeback this time around, the 25% rule doesn't fully support some restaurants to reopen for certain reasons, including the costs to run the business. Also, a quarter of the capacity for some venues means that they can provide the service to merely one customer at a time.

To witness the first few days of this phenomenon, we sent out our photographers to capture how the eateries in two of the most popular Bangkok areas—Ari and Ploenchit (Central Embassy)—were doing, and here's what we saw.
