Time Out brings light art festival Awakening to the foodie neighborhood of Samyan for the very first time under the theme of ‘RE:KINDLE’ as a prelude to more editions in 2022. Check out the sneak peek of the showcases here.

Let there be light! The dark alleys of Samyan are all lit up brightly for 10 days from today, as Time Out’s light art festival Awakening Samyan kicks off.
Talented artists have come together to give back the liveliness to Samyan with eight lighting installations under the ‘RE:KINDLE’ concept inspired by the dark times during the massive pandemic in the past two years.
Each showcase (which will be on until 23:00 daily until Dec 26) is set around the areas of Dragon Town and Suanluang Square near Soi Chula 5 and Bangkok’s popular street food hub Ban Tad Thong.
Below is the list of the installations and participating artists this year, and you can also check out the descriptions from this link:
And keep your eyes peeled (literally) for the upcoming editions of Awakening next year, starting with a bigger and grander event at Charoenkrung in January.
The map of all lighting installations of Awakening Samyan can be found here.
Awakening Bangkok 2021 is hosted by Time Out with support from the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) and Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau (TCEB) and location sponsors Property Management of Chulalongkorn University (PMCU), Suanluang Square, and Dragon Town.
