Here’s how the domestic travel situation in Thailand looks in September

Air travel is now back to serve domestic tourists, which means a holiday may just be coming up!

On September 1, the authorities lifted certain restrictions on domestic travel, which it had imposed a few months ago. Air travel, which had been suspended except for a few exemptions, is now permitted, prompting major airlines to relaunch their services. Other modes of transportation have followed suit and opened up more routes.

Here’s a brief breakdown of what the situation is like for domestic travel at the moment.

By plane

Here are updates from seven major airlines:

  • Thai Airways

    Thai Airways has one-way flights from Bangkok to Phuket twice a week (on Thursdays and Fridays).

  • Bangkok Airways

    Bangkok Airways has brought back return flights between Samui and Phuket for the participants of the Phuket Sandbox and Samui Plus initiatives. Flights are available on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.

    Flights between Samui and Singapore (exclusively for the Samui Plus program) are also available.

  • Nok Air

    Nok Air has relaunched their services at Don Mueang International Airport, with flights to Buri Ram, Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Chumphon, Hat Yai, Lampang, Loei, Mae Sot, Nakhon Si Thammarat, Nan, Phitsanulok, Phuket, Ranong, Sakon Nakhon, Surat Thani, Ubon Ratchathani, and Udon Thani.

  • Thai AirAsia

    Thai AirAsia is once again operating flights from Don Mueang International Airport to the following provinces: Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Hat Yai, Khon Kaen, Nakhon Phanom, Nakhon Si Thammarat, Narathiwat, Phuket, Roi Et, Ubon Ratchathani, and Udon Thani.

  • Thai Lion Air

    Thai Lion Air has relaunched operations at Don Mueang International Airport.

    Thai Smile Airways restarted domestic flights on September 1.

  • Thai VietJet Air

    Thai VietJet Air has been providing services at Don Mueang International Airport since September 1. The airline also plans to launch Bangkok-Taipei flights on October 20 (with connecting flights for tourists in the Phuket Sandbox program), as well as Bangkok-Singapore and Phuket-Singapore flights on October 21.

The Transport Company is now operating bus services throughout all four routes (northern, northeastern, eastern and southern)
