The prestigious Bangkok International Fashion Week (BIFW) returns for its 12th year this March, and it’s now even more fabulous as you can shop for any of your favorite looks right after the show! Bangkok International Fashion Week never fails to wow both local and foreign fashionistas each year with extravagant shows that feature fresh ideas and inspired concepts in wearable art. In its 12th year, BIFW 2019 sent down clothes by 15 top Thai designers in 10 shows at the Grand Runway at Parc Paragon, Siam Paragon.
This year's BIFW opened on Mar 28 with an eye-peeled highlight featuring VATANIKA, the namesake brand famed for over-the-top feminine silhouettes of designer Vatanika Patamasingha Na Ayudhya, who, this time, collaborates with UK-based Malaysian fashion phenomenon Self Portrait for an exciting double-brand show on the opening night on in which both brands' flaunt their signature styles.
Long-standing Thai fashion label ISSUE, on the same day, kicked off the summer fashion spree with a collection of easy-breezy clothes fused with the brand's signature prints, colors, and embroidered details.
Boys of Bangkok, a cool pack of three young menswear brands: LEISURE PROJECTS, P.MITH and Q DESIGN AND PLAY, that's been traveling the world to rock global fashion nations—from USA to China—with their diverse perceptions of modern men. Boys of Bangkok promises to heat up the fashion scene with one of the most anticipated shows of BIFW 2019 on Mar 29.
Other mind-blowing shows at BIFW 2019 include SOR-KOR-BOR WARSHIP by Prapakas, a sister brand of fashion-forward designer-slash-artist Prapakas Ungsusingha who, this time, make hippie vibes cool again through his fresh reinterpretation of colorful prints and patchworks; ABSOLUTE SIAM in which three brands—ICONIC, SIX P.M. and WONDER ANATOMIE—rock the runway with cutting-edge aesthetics favored by local teens.
Thai-philosophical-inspired shows never failed to impress show-goers in the past years; NAGARA, a legendary designer known for his gorgeous printed silks; PICHITA, who constantly reinvents local textiles with the use of modern silhouettes; and TUBE GALLERY, known for its fashion-forward aesthetics, which celebrates its 20th anniversary this year.
