Progressive Indian restaurant Gaggan which was recently awarded the 2nd place in Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants list is declared the 4th world’s best restaurant according to World’s 50 Best Restaurants 2019 list.
The World’s 50 Best Restaurants 2019 award ceremony, the equivalent to the Oscar in the fine-dining world, was held last night (26 June) at Marina Bay Sand in Singapore. Declared the best restaurant in Asia, Gaggan climbed up one spot from last year’s list to no.4, beating Singaporean French fine-dining Odette, which was crowded the no.1 spot in the Asian list. Sühring, the brainchild of celebrated Sühring twins, also tops the same list on the 45th spot.
Claiming the winning title is Mirazur, the Mediterranean dining institution by Argentinian-Australian chef Mauro Colagreco in Menton, France. The Neo-Nordic purveyor Noma in Copenhagen secured the second place and became the highest new entry in the history of the award ceremony, after the long hiatus.
Not included in the top 50 spots, but have been recognized in the top 100 lists are Thai fine-dining Nahm, steered by San Francisco-based chef Pim Techamuanvivit (no. 65) and Gaa by chef Garima Arora (no.95).
