The third wave—and the following precaution measures—appears to be more threatening to the survival of several businesses in Bangkok than the preceding ones, with most mass-gathering businesses and venues have been ordered to close their doors since May 1 for at least 30 days to prevent the spread of coronavirus. Besides the food and drink industry, theme parks and playgrounds are some of the businesses that have been hit hard. Now, one of them has made a decision not to reopen.
Yesterday, Sukhumvit 26's famous playground Funarium announced on its Facebook Page that it has ended all operations and will not reopen.
"After reviewing the prospect of business under the "New Normal" [lifestyle], we deeply regret to inform you that Funarium is ceasing its operations indefinitely," reads the announcement. Funarium also took this opportunity to thank all visitors for bringing all the smiles, laughter, and loving memories to the venue in the past 12 years.
First opened in April 2009, Funarium was one of Bangkok's best premium kids playground frequented by upper-middle-class and expat families, thanks to its massive play areas complete with a wide selection of skill development facilities and equipment.
