All rail services including BTS skytrain, MRT, Airport Rail Link and SRT commuter trains require passengers to wear mask while using the service as a preventive measure to curb the rise of covid-19 cases in Thailand.

Sorapong Paitoonphong, Director General of Department of Rail Transport, announced on 24 March that all passengers using all rail services are required to wear protective masks. Those without protective facial gear must purchase fabric masks sold at the station before entering the platform, priced from B35.

Thailand’s Department of Health advises people without novel coronavirus symptoms to wear fabric protective mask which is proved to prevent catching the virus up to 54-59%, while prioritizing washing one's hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds as the most effective preventive measure. Surgical mask can capture respiratory droplets from coughing, sneezing or simply talking – the main transmission route of coronavirus. It is recommended to cover one's face with mask as the infected can spread covid-19 with or without symptoms.
