Japanese bookstore chain Kinokuniya is welcoming back book lovers on the sixth floor of centralwOrld. The new space boasts over 2,000 square meters, marking it the biggest Kinokuniya branch in Thailand, and has a café dedicated to specialty coffee.
The store is divided into two different zones. The first, which was unveiled in April, displays a massive collection of comics and mangas. Meanwhile, the refurbished second zone, designed by Singapore’s Kay Ngee Tan Architects, is reserved for books, and corners for art equipment, stationery and more. The design of the new space is inspired by peaceful greenery, and is meant to evoke feelings of relaxation and calm. The space was also designed to host events like fan meets and book launches
Completely unexpected is the opening of K Coffee by UCC, a café that serves specialty coffee and slow bar-style beverages, such as drip and siphon coffees, made with exotic beans like roasted Sumiyaki or a Japanese house blend.
Kinokuniya landed in Thailand in 1992 on the sixth floor of the now-closed Isetan Department Store. The new shop has been relocated to the sixth floor of centralwOrld and is open between 10:00 and 22:00.
