Today, on the first day when restaurants across Bangkok are allowed to reopen for dine-in services (at 25% of their capacity, though), many of us were saddened by the shocking news that one of their most favorite hotpot restaurants will be leaving Siam Square, where it's been serving drooling Cantonese-style hotpot for more than five decades, for good. That said restaurant is Coca, a Cantonese-style hotpot institution on Soi Siam Square 7.
Coca took to its Facebook to announce the permanent closure of its Siam Square branch, one of its longest-standing outposts, and to thank its customers for the past 54 years of fond memories. It is reported on Thai news agency Prachachart that Coca Holding, Coca's parent company, decided to shut down one of its best-known branches after the leasing contract ends due to the pandemic and economic instability. The company is looking into scaling down the size of all of its restaurants to fit the changing dining behavior of today's people.
Coca Siam Square will be open until May 18, 21:00. Other branches of Coca, however, will be operated as usual.
