After much speculation regarding the plausible lockdown, the Center for COVID-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) took to the daily briefing to confirm that Bangkok and other provinces are undergoing stricter restrictions, which include night curfew, the closure of certain venues, and the work-from-home scheme, from July 12 onwards in order to contain the outbreak.

The regulations that will be imposed are:

  • The general public is encouraged to work from home as much as possible.
  • Public transport will operate only between 03:00-21:00.
  • Convenience stores and fresh markets are allowed to open from as early as 04:00 to as late as 20:00.
  • Shopping centers and department stores will have to shut their doors. However, supermarkets, restaurants, banks, pharmacies, mobile shops, and vaccine centers located inside the shopping malls are allowed to open until 20:00.
  • Restaurants—including those located in shopping centers—can open for takeaway services until 20:00. Dine-ins remain not permitted.
  • Beauty clinics, massage parlors, and spas will be closed.
  • Social gatherings—except certain offices and religious events—are limited to up to five participants.
  • Night curfew is imposed between 21:00-04:00.

Meanwhile, Thailand's state of emergency has been extended until September.
