There are not a lot of times when the BTS (Bangkok Mass Transit System) can make us smile, considering the controversies surrounding its pricey fees. But on July 4, the skytrain system posted a giggle-inducing picture to ask for the cooperation of its passengers.
“Please do not lean against the poles in the trains,” a post on the official BTS Skytrain page implored. “The purpose of these poles is for grabbing for stability and safety.”
Accompanying the kind request was a funny illustration of a sinister-looking person with his buttocks wedged against the pole, causing shock among the other passengers.
Jokes aside, BTS has long been vocal about this policy, which helps passengers hold on to something in the train, especially during peak hours, so “please be kind to other passengers by grabbing the poles instead of leaning against the poles.”
