Today (April 29), the Center for COVID-19 Situation Administration took to the broadcasting and updated a new set of COVID-19 restrictions in Bangkok following the increasing number of new coronavirus infections.

The biggest update is a temporary ban on dine-in services at restaurants across Bangkok for at least two weeks. Starting from May 1, restaurants in Bangkok cannot serve dining-in customers at all times in order to control the possibility of coronavirus spreading. In the meantime, they can still operate delivery and takeaway services until 21:00. Shopping malls are able to open as usual until 21:00, but no promotional events can be organized. Grocers and markets can be open from as early as 4:00 until 23:00. Gatherings of more than 20 people are strictly prohibited.

Individuals are required to wear a face mask properly at all times, with those who do not follow the rule could be fined up to B20,000. Since the beginning of the imposition, prime minister Prayut Chan-o-cha is one of those getting fined. However, the policy is now toned down to a warning to the individual before the fining process takes place. Dr. Taweesilp Visanuyothin asserted that the readjustment of this policy is to provide more convenience for those with low incomes.

What's more. The authorities also seek cooperation from the public not to travel outside the area of their residence, while both the public and private sectors are asked to encourage the 'work from home' policy. In addition, those who wish to enter Thailand from other countries must practice quarantine for 14 days with no exception.

Once again, all new restrictions will be in effect from May 1 and continue for trial for at least two weeks
