Thanks to its widespread popularity across the world, streaming platform Netflix has confirmed the renewal of a new season of Bling Empire, the smash-hit reality show that follows a circle of Los Angeles-based uber-rich Asians and their wicked dramas. Though Netflix hasn't released the cast for the second season, it is revealed that filming has already begun in Los Angeles. The show is produced by Jeff Jenkins, Ross Weintraub, and Reinout Oerlemans.

Debuted its premiere season in Jan 2021, Bling Empire has introduced us to the glitz-and-glam lives of the wealthy Asian and Asian-American friends and frienemies in Los Angeles, namely arm and defense tech dealer heiress Anna Shay, wife of wealthy plastic surgeon Christine Chiu, Korean-American model Kevin Kreider, Singaporean shopping mall heir Kane Lim, EDM deejay Kim Lee, and fashion influencer Jamie Xie.

The renewal of Bling Empire follows Nexflix's confidence in what's called 'docusoap' or a type of reality program that follows a person or a group of people going about their juicy everyday lives

“In my eyes, unscripted TV is one of the most broad and diverse categories of entertainment. There are competition shows to be named the best singer... or the worst baker. There are dating shows to find the one (or $100,000). There are home design shows to spark inspiration (and even joy!). And there are programs that follow real people going about their real lives, among many others,” says Brandon Riegg, Netflix VP of Unscripted and Documentary Series in a press release.

Along with Bling Empire, Netflix has also announced that the new season of reality show Selling Sunset is also in the works.
