The annual Asia’s 50 Best Bars awards is officially back for 2022, with a physical ceremony held for the first time in two years at Mandarin Oriental Bangkok.
Prior to the full reveal of the 50 best drinkeries across Asia, the awards committee announced the extended roster from numbers 51 to 100. Four bars in Thailand made the cut, including Teens of Thailand (No. 64), Smalls (No. 69), #FindTheLockerRoom (No. 78), and The Loft (No. 88).
The top 50 were disclosed on April 28 and we are happy to see both old and new establishments from Bangkok’s nightlife scene on the list—and there's a lot that surprises us this year.
The biggest shocking news is the big fall of 2021's best bar in Thailand The Bamboo Bar that is now placed at No. 46. However, BKK Social Club unsurprisingly makes its grand debut at No. 10 and as the country's best bar, after snatching 90th place on the World’s 50 Best Bars list last year. It also takes the Michter's Art of Hospitality Award back home to Four Seasons Bangkok Hotel.
Elsewhere on the list, the other bars maintaining their presence include Vesper jumping from No. 46 to No. 19 and Tropic City hopping from No. 22 to No. 17. In the meantime, Asia Today has moved up from the 51-100 list at No. 52 to No. 43.
Sadly, Backstage Cocktail Bar (formerly No. 35, and now permanently closed) has been removed from this year’s list.
We also want to congratulate Coa in Hong Kong for taking the highest spot for the second consecutive year.
Here’s a rundown of five Thailand bars that made it to the 2022 edition of Asia’s 50 Best Bars:
- BKK Social Club (No. 10)
- Tropic City (No. 17)
- Vesper (No. 19)
- Asia Today (No. 43)
- The Bamboo Bar (No. 46)
