Despite the drop of the dine-in ban in the Bangkok metropolitan area announced on May 15, Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) has decided to extend the closure of most types of service businesses and mass-gathering venues to May 31 to cope with the rising number of coronavirus infections.
Here's the list of all the venues that are ordered to shut down during this time:
- Schools, educational institutions, and tutoring schools
- Pubs, bars, karaoke lounges, bathhouses
- Theaters
- Water parks, theme parks, zoos
- All sorts of skating rinks and arcades
- Gaming and internet cafés
- Pools, gyms, and fitness centers
- Exhibition halls, museums, trade exhibition centers, and convention centers
- Public libraries
- Daycare centers (except those in hospitals)
- Boxing stadiums and schools
- Manicure and pedicure parlors
- Ballroom dance halls and academies
- Amulet trading markets and centers
- Health and wellness establishments, health spas, massage shops, and traditional Thai massage and foot massage parlors
- Beauty treatment clinics
- Sports venues and all types of race tracks
- Public parks
In the meantime, only three types of venues are allowed to open:
- Restaurants and cafés can resume dine-in services until 21:00 at only 25% of their capacity and are permitted to offer food and drink for takeout and delivery until 23:00. Alcohol sales for on-site consumption are prohibited.
- Salons and barbers can also run the business as usual but only for hair-cutting and hair-washing, with no waiting customers inside the venue.
- Convenience stores, supermarkets, local markets, and walking streets can open from as early as 04:00 to as late as 23:00.
