The capital's independent cinema Bangkok Screening Room has just announced it will be permanently closed after standing out in Bangkok's indie film scene since 2016. The last screening will be on March 31.
"With much sadness, we're announcing the closure of Bangkok Screening Room after March 31st," sadly said the BKKSR team. The founder team—consisting of Wongsarond Suthikulpanit, Sarinya Manamuti, and Nicholas Hudson-Ellis—came together back in 2016 with their "passion to bring a vibrant film program from around the world" for discerning cinephiles in Bangkok.
However, the pandemic emerging last year has continuously affected the BKKSR team, causing the inability to go on. They imparted a thank-you message for all members and patrons who have given support to the cinema for these past several years: "We can't thank you enough for your amazing support all these years. Without you, we could not have come this far. We hope to see you in a new form one way or another in the future post-pandemic crisis when a new opportunity arises," said the team in a press.
The BKKSR's members can redeem free passes and enjoy the membership until the said date, and please contact the box office at hello@bkksr.com or the Facebook page for more information.
