It's another day, another bad news from the COVID-19 outbreak in the city. This time, the ongoing pandemic has caused a new effect on Bangkok's leading art festival Bangkok Design Week.

Earlier today (January 5), the organizing team has announced through the official Facebook Page the postponement of Bangkok Design Week 2021, which was set to take off on January 30. The new dates for the 2021 edition will be May 8-16, while the Creative Economy District at Charoenkrung-Songwad, Samyan, Ari-Pradipat, and Thonglor-Ekkamai still remain unchanged as of now.

The decision came after the second emergence of COVID-19 cases found in Samut Sakhon back in December 2020. Ever since, many regions around Thailand—including Bangkok and other 27 provinces—have seen a soaring number of the infected, resulting in the government's restrictions on certain activities such as alcohol sales and mass gatherings.

Despite being postponed, Bangkok Design Week, themed 'Resurgence of Possibilities, promises to return with all inspiring artworks to help people in the city explore the opportunities to rise through the difficulties prevalent in the world at this moment.
