The Oscar-equivalent award for bars, Asia’s 50 Best Bars is set to return next week with the reveal of the seventh edition that gives the recognition to a huge number of drinkeries around the continent.
Like last year’s edition, 2022’s roster is introduced with the announcement of the extended list of rankings 51-100, which aims at shining more spotlight on the deserving establishments across the region. In 2021, there were six bars in Bangkok that appeared on the second half, including Asia Today (No. 52), Thaipioka (No. 53), Rabbit Hole (No. 67), 008 Bar (No. 81), Sugar Ray: You’ve Just Been Poisoned (No. 85), and Smalls (No. 93).
However, the 51-100 list this year has seen fewer venues making it, with only four bars appearing as follows:
- Teens of Thailand (No. 64)
- Smalls (No. 69)
- #FindTheLockerRoom (No. 78, new entry)
- The Loft (No. 88, new entry)
Interestingly, Teens of Thailand is the only bar in the list that hugely slips from No. 48 last year to the current spot on No. 64, while Smalls climbs up from No. 93 to No. 69—which means that Asia Today, Thaipioka, Rabbit Hole, 008 Bar, and Sugar Ray: You’ve Just Been Poisoned could potentially go up to the prestigious 1-50 list or go out of sight.
Find out the complete results of Asia’s 50 Best Bars 2022 on April 22, and see if The Bamboo Bar will still hold the crown as Thailand’s best hotspot. Stay tuned.
