Asia’s 50 Best Bars 2019 announced — 7 Bangkok bars make the cut

2019 seems to be a great year for bar industry in Bangkok. The city's seven cocktail institutions have managed to secure the spots in Asia's 50 Best bars 2019 lists, announced today (9 June) in Singapore. 

Jazz sanctuary The Bamboo Bar at Mandarin Oriental is ranked at number 8, picking up the top spot among the rest of Bangkok bars.

Theater-theme Backstage Cocktail Bar is placed at number 20, falling seven spots from last year.

Silom cocktail den Vesper whose cocktail menu is influenced by art masterpieces climbs up one spot and secures the 26th place, while Smalls and Teens of Thailand are placed at number 42 and 48 respectively. 

Awarded with the special prize Campari One to Watch in 2018, Rabbit Hole is one of the newcomers to join this year's list at number 34, along with the tropical-themed Tropic City, which is ranked at number 31. 

Claiming the crown is Hong Kong's Ernest Hemmingway-themed The Old Man. The bar will also open a pop-up branch this year at Mandarin Oriental Bangkok for three months from June onwards.
