Bangkok Art Biennale at various venues; free
This October will see Bangkok hosting its own biennale, a large-scale art festival that involves various kinds of art created by an impressive amount of artists and exhibited in 20 different notable venues throughout the city, in this case, riverside, and along Silom and Sukhumvit. The Bangkok Art Biennale will feature masterpieces from more than 70 Thai and international names, including celebrated Japanese artist Yayoi Kusuma.

Getsunova’s Panot Gunaprasert and The Bottom Blues’ Chai-amorn “Ammy” Kaewwiboonpan—musicians by profession and artists by passion—unite in a dual art exhibition. Panot drops free-stroke expressionist paintings while Ammy presents colorful works inspired by famed artists such as Picasso and Pollock.

Kawita Vatanajyankur at Anantara Siam Bangkok Hotel; 3pm; free
The performance artist’s latest work, created exclusively for the Bangkok Art Biennale, will be showcased in malls along Sukhumvit and venues by the river. Meanwhile, Nova Contemporary is reviving Kawita’s previous show, which was showcased at the 57th Venice Art Biennale, bringing it out of a white-walled space to the lush courtyard of Anantara Siam hotel. In this set of moving images, Kawita examines the socio-cultural belief on women’s rights by using her body to represent household appliances.
Ecstasy of Truth at Sathorn 11 Art Space; 5pm; free
Adhering to the theme of the Bangkok Art Biennale, Ecstasy of Truth presents the many ideas of happiness as interpreted by Thai oil painter Kannika Jansuwan and Russian photo artist Olga Volodina.

Ghost:2561 at various venues; free
Inaugurated and curated by Korakrit Arunanonchai, Ghost is a series of multi-disciplinary exhibitions, taking places at various venues in Bangkok, that tries to connect the common context of the ghost around the world. Ghost will show between 11 to 28 October at Bangkok’s top cultural venues such as 100 Tonson Gallery, Bangkok Citycity Gallery, Cartel Artspace and Jim Thompson Art Museum. The Chakrabhand Posayakrit Exhibition at Chakrabhand Posayakrit Foundation; 11am; B100
In The Chakrabhand Posayakrit Exhibition, a retrospective showcase of the master’s works, we get the rare chance to view the legendary artist’s original paintings alongside Thai puppets from the artist’s private collection. The exhibition is so massive that the pieces will be rotated on a four-month basis.
Please note that proper attire is required. The space isn’t air-conditioned, and no parking space is provided (but you can park at Big C Ekkamai mall across the street for B30/hour).
