Bangkok’s governor Chadchart Sittipunt has put his foot down—apart from his extremely early daily jog—this time with the opening hours of three major public parks in Bangkok.
At 05:00 on August 1, the governor went on live broadcast and revealed that Lumphini Park, Benchasiri Park, and Chatuchak Park would open for longer hours from between 05:00 and 21:00 to now between 04:30 and 22:00.
This initiative is a response to the city dwellers’ high demand for public spaces for leisure use and exercise. Now, only three parks would join the pilot scheme, and the City Hall will consider applying the new rule to other parks in the future.
