Now that most fine-dining restaurants remain closed, after a year of repeating shutdowns without support from governing authorities, it's the private sectors that decide to do their parts to help save the industry that's at the brink of falling down. Turning up just now is the co-project between Chef Cares Foundation and leading eating guide Wongnai.
The two have kicked off an initiative entitled #HelpChefsSaveRestaurants, for which 17 chefs from Bangkok's leading haute cuisine restaurants will offer their fine dining meals for takeout and delivery at the prices you haven't seen for a very, very long time: B599 and B999.
The 17 participating chefs are:
- Chef David Thompson from Aksorn
- Chef Garima Gaa from Gaa
- Chef Dan Bark from Caper by Dan Bark
- Chef Francesco Lenzi from Nonna Nella by Lenzi
- Chef Toshi Onishi from Suzhi Zo
- Chef Nooror Somany Steppe from Blue Elephant
- Chef Kenji Shindo from Wagyu Shin
- Chef Deepanker Khosla from Haoma
- Chef Saki Hoshino from Samlor
- Chef Pan Siripornlertkul from 99 Chicken Pot
To buy is a little bit tricky, though. It's actually more like buying a discount coupon. First, you go to this link to check out the available menu. You'll receive a "digital coupon" once you've done your payment. Then, you'll need to contact each restaurant (most likely to be via LINE app) to submit your order. (Wongnai doesn't do it for you, sorry, but that means each restaurant wouldn't have the pay commissions, so it's reasonable.) At this point, you have to discuss with the restaurant when and how you can pick up your food.
