Bangkok offers countless ways to spend your free time but occasionally nothing beats kicking back for a bit of couch surfing and a good movie. And when it comes to what to watch, there is a plethora of streaming services to choose from. On November, 19 Thailand bid farewell to HBO Go and welcomed Max, a platform that serves up HBO Originals, iconic films like Harry Potter and The Lord of the Rings and hit series such as Friends and Game of Thrones – all in 4K UHD and Dolby Atmos.

While Max has created a buzz among film lovers across Thailand, its selection of Thai movies is still quite limited with a few titles available such as Khun Pan 3 and School Tales. Hopefully, more Thai film content and original series will be added in the future. Until then, where can you stream the best of Thai cinema? We’ve got you covered with our list of top streaming services for Thai silver screen entertainment.

Netflix

With subscriptions starting at just B99 a month, Netflix is a haven for Thai flicks, including recent hits like How to Make Millions Before Grandma Dies, a dark comedy about family greed that grossed over $50 million worldwide and the acclaimed horror Death Whisper, known for its chilling supernatural twists.

Here you can find series aired on local channels, such as The Empress of Ayodhaya, a historical drama about a queen who seizes the throne for her lover and To the Moon and Black, a romantic tale about a child raised by a transgender father.

The highlights of this platform are original movies such as The Murderer, a suspenseful mystery set in the Isan region and Don’t Come Home, a gripping psychological horror. Also available are original series like Hunger, a tale of culinary ambition and Masters of the House, which is a family drama that revolves around a murder mystery.

Prime Video

Prime is another streaming service featuring original series and movies, though its Thai selection is even smaller than Netflix. Highlights include Congrats My Ex, a comedy about a girl tasked with organising a wedding for her ex and The Adventures, which follows a secretary teaming up with a hustler to search for treasure in China.

In terms of something binge-worthy, check out reality offerings like Comedy Island, in which a group comprising comedians, actors and social media celebs are stranded on a mysterious island.

With a subscription at B149 a month, you can also stream fan-favourite titles such as The Letter, a romantic drama about a woman who receives a letter from her late husband and The Overture, a nostalgic musical drama looking at a man’s journey to greatness.

Apple TV+

If you subscribe to Apple TV+ for B249 per month you can enjoy classics from renowned local film studios GDH 599, including Bad Genius, a tense thriller about students who mastermind an exam cheating scheme and Friend Zone, which is a rom-com that focuses on unrequited love and friendship. Also catch iconic films like Ong-Bak, the action-packed martial arts flick starring Tony Jaa, plus Malila: The Farewell Flower, a drama about a gay couple coming to terms with their love and the loss of a partner set against a backdrop of Thai cultural traditions.

Mono Max

If you want to get a true taste of local films, Mono Max is the place to be. With a subscription starting at just B99 you can stream a mix of movies such as haunted ladyboy comedy Oh My Ghost and A Very Romantic Story in the Very Big City, a 1989 romantic comedy set in San Francisco. Mono Max also has Snake Lady, the romance-horror considered a culturally significant pillar of Thai cinema and The Sisters, a supernatural drama about teen musicians haunted by a ghost in an air vent.
